Temporary Senior Research Officer for the Welsh Liberal Democrat Group at the National Assembly for Wales

Salary range: £19,684 - £28,856 (Band 2) (5 point scale, appointment will only be above point 1 in exceptional circumstances)

Appointment Type: Temporary to cover maternity leave

Working hours: 37 hours

Location: National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff

Purpose of Job: To provide high quality research services on a wide range of topics assisting with the coordination and forward planning of political research for assembly business to maximize the impact the of the Welsh Liberal Democrat group.

Main duties include:

  • Assist with allocating research to group and Assembly Members' researchers to meet the week to week needs of Assembly Members
  • Provide research material to support AMs, their offices and the communications team as and when needed.
  • Coordinate effective and rigorous scrutiny of the government
  • Assist with the planning of Welsh Lib Dem debate time, working with other research staff and communications staff
  • Draft questions, motions and amendments, briefings and speeches for plenary

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Relevant experience in a political/research environment
  • Experience of working directly with influential, high profile people in a pressured environment
  • Experience of delivering research or briefing in a parliamentary or similar environment
